This week the U.S. Census Bureau released figures naming Auburn as one of the top 15 fastest-growing cities in the US. This should come as no surprise to new home owners in Auburn-Opelika! Also this past week, the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) reported that home builders remain as confident as ever that the housing market is continuing on its upward trend.
The HMI, published monthly by the National Association of Home Builders, improved by three points overall and reflected improvement in all three index components—sales expectations, current sales conditions and traffic of prospective buyers.
“Builders are reporting an active spring buying season as consumers become more confident about going forward with a new-home purchase along with steadily firming prices in local markets,” said Chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
This comes as fantastic news to residents of National Village and anyone looking to buy a new home in Auburn-Opelika, Alabama. Whether you’re a first time home buyer or looking to buy your second or third home, this is positive news!
Auburn, which was ranked at 14th this week, experienced a 3.71% growth between July 2011 and 2012. Over the last couple of years the city has been ranked the 11th fastest-growing metropolitan statistical area in the nation. Recently, Auburn-Opelika was ranked 10th on the Forbes list for Top 10 Best Small Cities for Jobs.
“People don’t want to move to a place that is not a positive place to be. People want to be part of a good thing, and we’re very proud that we have those things to offer,” said Auburn, Alabama mayor Bill Ham. “There are few cities in the country that wouldn’t love to be in this position, so we’re grateful and appreciative.”
